Jonathan won’t convert to Islam, group tells Boko Haram

Niger Delta
Indigenous Movement for
Radical Change, NDIMRC, has
promised to defend
President Goodluck Jonathan
and made it clear that the
President would neither
convert to Islam nor resign
his position for peace to
reign in the country as
demanded by the Boko
Haram sect.
The group described the
demand of Boko Haram as
laughable and a huge joke,
warning the sect to stop
frustrating President
Jonathan and put an end to
the ‘senseless’ killings in the
Northern parts of the
country.
NDIMRC, in a statement by its
President, Nelly Emma, noted
that Boko Haram’s demand
that President Jonathan
should convert to Islam or
resign, was a cheap
blackmail that must be
ignored by the good people
of Nigeria.
It implored the sect to stop
the killings and give the
President the needed peace
to discharge the mandate
freely given to him by
Nigerians in the 2011
general elections.
It said: “President Jonathan
has the mandate of
Nigerians to rule this country
and he will not succumb to
any blackmail. The President
cannot be intimidated; he
will not resign because he is
the custodian of a mandate
given to him by Christians
and Muslims alike.”
