Yakubu, Utaka score in China

Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni on Sunday scored his 5th goal of the season for his Chinese club Guangzhou R&F in their 4-2 defeat of Shandong Luneng
in the Asian country’s topflight
league.
The former Blackburn Rovers
forward equalised for his team in
the 9th minute to make score 1-1
as fourth-placed Guangzhou R&F
came from behind to claim the
emphatic victory.
Also in China, Peter Utaka
grabbed the winner for Dalian
Aerbin in a 2-1 win over Guizhou
Renha. Utaka, who joined Aerbin
from Danish side OB Odense,
scored in the 90th minute after
former Barceolna midfielder,
Seydou Keita, scored first in the
36th minute.
In England, Osaze Odemwingie,
got to a flying start with West
Bromwich Albion as they
hammered Liverpool 3-0 at the
Hawthorns.
The Edo-born Odemwingie
scored from the spot in the 63rd
minute after Shane Long was
brought down in the vital area by
Reds defender Martin Skrtel.
The former Lokomotiv Moscow
forward scored 15 and 10 goals
in his first and second seasons
respectively with the Baggies and
now he hopes to reach the
double digits again in his third.
“My target is to reach double
figures again this season and I
am fully motivated to do that. The
win against Liverpool was
important in starting our
season,” Odemwingie, West
Brom’s record scorer in a season
with 15 league goals, told a
Lagos radio station on Monday.
Former Golden Eaglets striker
Macauley Chrisantus was on
target on his debut for Spain’s
Segunda side, Las Palmas,
scoring the winner in the 1-0
win over Santander at the
Campos de Sport El Sardinero.
The Korea 2007 U-17 World Cup
winner hit the back of the net in
the 29th minute after a cross
from Momo to send the travelling
fans into wild jubilation.
In Belgium, 19-year-old striker
Jason Adesanya helped Lierse
secure a 1-1 draw against Genk
in the Jupiler Liga. Adesanya
scored the equaliser for his team
in the 86th minute.
