Robbers attack police station, bank in Ekiti

Suspected robbers on Thursday
invaded a branch of a first
generation bank in Ifaki Ekiti in
Ido Osi Local Government Area of
Ekiti State and operated for
about 20 minutes.
Our correspondent learnt that
the robbers stormed the town in
four vehicles and attacked the
police station in the town before
the bank.
However, it was not clear if
anybody was killed or injured.
A source in the town told our
correspondent that an
undisclosed amount of money
was carted away from the bank
by the hoodlums numbering
about 10.
The attack forced other banks
and shops in the town to close
abruptly with the Ado/Ifaki Road
and Ifaki/Oye Road deserted.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Sotonye Wakama, told our
corespondent that nobody was
killed in the operation.
He said, “The robbers came in
four vehicles and attacked a
police station and the bank. We
closed down the whole state and
our men pursued the hoodlums
and caught up with them at
Aramoko.”
