Rain sacks 15 communities in Ebonyi

NO fewer than
15 communities in Ikwo
Local Government Area of
Ebonyi State were weekend
displaced as a result of a
two-day heavy down in the
area.
The affected communities
include Alike, Achara,
Inyimagu, Akunakuna,
Igbudu, Ndieche, Ndinkoshi,
Okwerike, Ekahufu, Obegu,
Ekpomaka among others.
Briefing at a briefing Urban
Secondary School, Ndufu
Achara in Ikwo LGA,
Executive Secretary of the
State Emergency
Management Agency, SEMA,
Elder Igboke Umunna,
explained that property
worth millions naira were
equally destroyed, noting
that the state had a record of
332,938 victims of natural
disaster and about 50,000
victims who were yet to be
attended to.
Umunna who monitored the
distribution of relief
materials to victims of the
flood disaster by a Non
Governmental Organization,
Chinedu Ogah Foundation,
COF, enumerated the
property destroyed by the
flood to include, household
appliances, buildings, crops,
lives stock and other
valuables.
He lamented that many had
been rendered homeless
since the flood disaster that
ravaged the affected
communities.
